Course Overview

This 1-day comprehensive program introduces participants to the fundamental principles of First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The course aims to equip participants with essential life-saving skills to manage emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses effectively—both at home and in the workplace.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply the basic principles of first aid.
  • Recognize and respond to different types of injuries and medical emergencies.
  • Demonstrate CPR and choking relief techniques.
  • Gain awareness of safety prevention practices at home and workplace.
  • Understand the Chain of Survival concept and correct AED usage.

Target Participants

  • Open to the public (any discipline or background).
  • Ideal for employees, supervisors, educators, caregivers, and community volunteers.

Course Modules

Module 1: First Aid Principles

  • Definition & objectives of First Aid
  • Legal & ethical aspects
  • Roles & responsibilities of a first aider
  • Emergency action principles (DRABC)
  • Primary and secondary survey

Module 2: Safety Prevention at Home/Work

  • Identifying hazards and risks
  • Workplace & home safety practices
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Fire and electrical safety awareness

Module 3: Types of Wounds and Injuries

  • Types of wounds: cuts, burns, fractures, bleeding
  • Recognizing signs and symptoms
  • First aid management and dressing techniques
  • Bandaging and immobilization practice

Module 4: CPR (Chain of Survival) and Choking

  • Understanding Chain of Survival
  • Adult CPR (Hands-only and full CPR)
  • Use of CPR manikin and AED
  • Infant and child CPR overview
  • Choking management (Heimlich manoeuvre)

Training Methodology

  • Lectures & Multimedia Presentations
  • Demonstration and Hands-on Practice using CPR dummies and AED trainers
  • Scenario-based Learning (case studies and role play)
  • Interactive Q&A Sessions
  • Training materials (printed notes, CPR dummy usage, teaching aids)
  • One triangular bandage per participant

Assessment & Evaluation

Participants will undergo:

  • Written Theory Test – Minimum passing score: 60%
  • Practical Test (CPR Skills) – Hands-on demonstration to assess proficiency

Certification

  1. Certificate of Attendance
  2. Certificate of Completion –Participants who successfully pass both theory and practical assessments.
